Data Protection
Local councils and parish meetings must comply with the requirements of the The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), just like any other organisation.
The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) came into effect in the UK on 25 May 2018, replacing the pre-existing law on data protection (the Data Protection Act 1998) and gave individuals more rights and protection regarding how their personal data is used .
The Parish Council has the same statutory duty to comply with its requirements as any other organisation.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) are the regulator in charge of data protection and privacy issues.
A certificate confirming the Council’s registration with the ICO can be downloaded using the link below.
The document will open in a separate window.
Other policy documents relating to GDPR, document retention, and how we process data can be found on this website.
