Hertfordshire County Council – 6 week consultation on Local Transport Plan (LTP5)
Residents invited to help shape the future of transport in Hertfordshire
Published: 2 October 2026
Residents, businesses and organisations across Hertfordshire are being invited to help shape the future of transport in the county as Hertfordshire County Council launches a six-week consultation on its new Local Transport Plan (LTP5).
Open from 28 September to 9 November 2026, the consultation will help inform transport priorities and investment decisions across Hertfordshire through to 2050.
The draft plan supports the county council’s wider ambitions to help residents access jobs, education and essential services, support sustainable economic growth, improve health and wellbeing through active travel opportunities, and create cleaner, safer and more connected communities.
The draft plan sets out a range of proposals aimed at creating a safer, resilient and more accessible transport network. These include improving bus and rail services, making it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle. Improving road safety and the standard of roads, increasing electric vehicle charging provision, strengthening east-west public transport links and improving access to jobs, services and communities across the county.
The plan will guide how transport decisions are made and how future investment is prioritised, helping to ensure Hertfordshire remains a great place to live, work and visit.
As part of the consultation, residents are being asked whether the draft plan has identified the right priorities and which improvements would make the biggest difference to the way they travel.
Transport affects every aspect of daily life, whether you are commuting to work, taking children to school, visiting family and friends, running a business or accessing essential services. We want to hear from as many people as possible about what matters most to them and how they think transport in Hertfordshire can be improved in the years ahead. The Local Transport Plan will help guide transport decisions across the county up to 2050, so this is an important opportunity for residents, businesses and organisations to tell us what works well, what could be better and what should be prioritised in the future. I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the consultation and share their views.
