Once again we would like to thank Peter Dace for providing us with these historical images of Cuffley, from the collection of the late John Higgs.
Notes on the image state “Cuffley Hill, date unknown possibly pre-1920. The view is of the hill taken near the bridge over Cuffley Brook.”
Description: The image shows an unmarked road rising upward to the horizon. The road is lined, on both sides, with large native trees in full leaf. Probably Oak trees. Halfway up the hill, there is a couple walking along the road. In the foreground, to the right, there is short length of wooden post and rail fence. A man in a dark suit and flat cap is standing, leaning on the railing. He is holding a bag or briefcase in his right hand. To the left of the road there are, what appear to be, steps with wooden post and rail rails leading down. At the bottom of the image it is marked CUFFLEY HILL in white upper case handwriting.
