Information About Local Planning

Information, and links, relating to planning applications in the Parish. How they are dealt with, who does what, and related statutory documents.

Planning responsibilities:

The Borough Council (Welwyn Hatfield) has responsibility for all local planning matters regarding housing, retail and industrial planning matters. Details of both current and past planning applications can be found on their website using the link below.

The County Council (Hertfordshire) has responsibility for all local planning matters regarding planning for waste, minerals (mostly sand and gravel quarries) and for services they provide, such as schools, libraries and roads. Details of these planning applications can be found on their website using the link below.

Parish Council Responsibilities:

The Parish Council is a statutory consultee, which means that the Borough and County Councils have to ask for our input regarding certain types of planning applications.

Our Planning Committee Working Party then reviews all the planning and licence applications made in the Parish, providing feedback to the planning depts.

The Parish Council also helped to produce a statutory document, called a Neighbourhood Plan, which came onto force on 10th May 2023 and is applicable to all planning applications, within the Parish of Northaw and Cuffley, determined after that date.
